Created for the Royal Canadian Mint, this was the prime real-estate holder for 3 years till mint.ca was redesigned in 2012. This banner container had quite a few obstacles to navigate and overcame them all with ease.
This container accommodates language switching, can contains images of all kinds, animated swf banners, parses XML (potentially written by a CMS), and even has a console for staging environments. With English and French versions of both staging and production, the same flash container file (.swf) will adapt to each situation. If an image or swf fails to load, it will report to the console, continuing loading other assets and change the navigation to suit – the viewer is none the wiser.
I considered releasing this container for the Envato marketplace but it’s function is now replaceable by HTML5. I may still create an HTML5 version and sell it in a digital marketplace.
